2008 Grant Projects
We received a $48,000 grant from the Mt. Sinai Health Care Foundation, Cleveland, and completed training 198 caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia residing in northern Ohio. This was done in collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association, Cleveland Are Chapter. In this project, research on the effects of Reiki on caregivers was conducted by Case Western Reserve University School of Nursing. Results of this research are pending.
We received a $2,500 grant from the National Council of Jewish Women, Cleveland Section, to train 25 mothers of children with Autism to use Reiki on themselves and their children. Twenty-seven (27) participating mothers gave remarkable reports of improved sleeping, less agitation, better focus, improved behaviors and an increased attention span of the children with Autism. These promising results have led to discussions for formal research projects using Reiki with this special needs population.
